Scottish Society of Ottawa at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade
By Jen Hill
Members of the Scottish Society of Ottawa were delighted to take part in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade organized by the Irish Society of the National Capital Region. With tartan on display, Scottish flags flying, and even a very dignified Irish wolfhound named Sorcha among our group, our contingent proudly marched through downtown Ottawa alongside thousands celebrating Irish heritage.
Our sincere thanks to The Irish Society of the National Capital Region for organizing such a fantastic event. The parade brought together musicians, cultural groups, families, and community organizations for a joyful celebration that truly captured the spirit of the day.
Despite a bit of classic March weather, the streets were lined with enthusiastic spectators, and it was a pleasure for the Scottish Society to march in support of our Irish friends and neighbours.
Events like this remind us just how closely connected the Scottish and Irish communities in Ottawa have long been, a shared Celtic spirit that continues to thrive through gatherings like this.
We look forward to taking part again next year.
