Fond Farewells – Nujma and Sara
By Donald Macdonald and Liz Smith
How often have you come across the phrase “communication is key”?
Nujma Bond
At the SSO, as with any community, communication is what helps us build relationships and stay connected with you — our members and our wider audience.
That’s why we’re especially sad to share that two of our key volunteer contributors in this vital area are stepping back — at least for now.
Nujma Bond has been our dedicated editor of the SSO newsletter, ensuring we regularly hear about upcoming and past events, fascinating historical figures, scenic corners of Scotland, and of course, Scots food (especially shortbread). She has also kept us on track with deadlines, coordinated layout and final touches with the communications team, and upheld the highest editing standards.
Nujma has recently taken on additional life responsibilities including at work, with less time to manage the newsletter, though she has assured us she’ll still contribute from time to time in other ways.
Sara McIlveen
Sara McIlveen Francis has been an energetic and creative force behind our social media content, particularly on Instagram — a role that often demands quick turnaround, sharp instincts, and the ability to capture moments as they happen. Her professional workload has also increased, and she has had to step back from her communications duties.
To both of you: thank you for your steady behind-the-scenes presence, your talent, and your dedication. We wish you well as you navigate your current commitments, and we welcome you back anytime with open arms.
Fare ye weel bonnie lassies — and haste ye back!
