Meet an Ottscot: James Obi

James Obi is the SSO’s Volunteer Director, and says he joined because of his interest in being part of a strong community. In his role, he helps plan and assist with events and initiatives that strengthen member engagement and promote Scottish culture.

He believes it’s important to preserve and celebrate traditions to keep history, values, and a sense of identity alive, and says he’s proud to contribute his time and skills.

“Volunteering and cultural initiatives are especially important to me,” says James. “I enjoy community involvement and contributing to organizations that bring people together.”

He notes that getting involved with the SSO also creates new opportunities for connection, education, and building community ties across generations.

James is currently completing studies in project management and works in project coordination.
