Scottish Society of Ottawa Volunteer Needs 2023
By Andy MacCullogh
Volunteers are the life blood of the SSO. At our Annual General Meeting June 3 we thanked long time volunteer Board members for their contributions and welcomed three new members to the Executive team. And we are also delighted to welcome a new Youth Director. We are still looking for a Director of Membership. These leaders will help steer the SSO to success in the coming years.
We have also had an incredible group of volunteers step up and help in all sorts of ways. The Hogman-eh team in particular worked together to put on a spectacular New Years event. It was a lot of fun and a great party.
Volunteers are needed beyond leadership and events. SSO is a Not for Profit organization that works with its members and partners to preserve and celebrate Scottish culture. We need a team of volunteers with an interest in marketing and communications to help build awareness and engagement. Specific roles are available to support:
Website development and design (both technical and creative support)
Social media guru
Tech support on direct mail and website (help us build out our platform)
Media and communications
Partner and sponsor outreach
We would welcome volunteers who have an interest in these area and want to learn and apply their skills. Or also people who have energy and an interest and are willing to learn and expand their horizons. An interest in Scottish culture and fun would be helpful.
If this sounds like you and you would like to find out more please contact me for a wee blether (Scottish for a chat). It would be great to see if we could find something that you would be interested in doing to help. But only contact me if you want to make it fun.
