Great Canadian Kilt Skate Home Edition: Lethbridge
Hey, Southern Alberta, let’s go Kilt Skating! Put on a kilt, don some tartan, lace up the skates and let’s head out onto the ice.
THE KILT SKATE and CEILIDH ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED FOR JANUARY 29 HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO THE COVID VIRUS, but that doesn’t mean we can’t kilt skate on our own.
It’s a great way to celebrate Scotland’s contribution to the multicultural heritage of Southern Alberta — with bare knees and ice!
We call it the “Home Edition” of the Great Canadian Kilt Skate. It means that, all through January and February, individuals, families and small socially-distanced groups go out to enjoy some fresh air and exercise. Our faces may be masked, but our knees will be bare!
Skate on your back yard rink or at the ODR. Skate on the pond down the road or on a frozen river. Just be sure to wear some tartan. And take pictures!
