Great Canadian Kilt Skate: Ottawa

In the shadow of the beautiful and historic Aberdeen Pavilion at Lansdowne Park, you are invited to our 8th annual Ottawa Great Canadian Kilt Skate. #TartanUp and celebrate Scottish heritage in a unique way: by taking to the ice in kilts and tartans! Bring the family, enjoy an afternoon skate, and free hot chocolate and refreshment, thanks to our sponsors.

Join Mayor Jim Watson and Lisa MacLeod, Minister of Sport, Heritage, Tourism and Culture Industries, MPP Nepean for opening remarks at 1:15 p.m.

Come out and help Ottawa regain the title with the highest participation across the nation! Use #KiltSkate2022OTT when posting your pictures on socials to give Ottawa a salchow in the contest!

Administrative Notes:
Following Covid-19 health guidelines, there is a maximum capacity on the ice. Masks are recommended and skating only with members of your own household. Parking is available on-street nearby or in underground paid parking on site, accessible from Bank Street and Queen Elizabeth Drive. Guests may use the washrooms in the Aberdeen Pavilion (East entrance) from 8 am to 8 pm daily. Masks are required and skates are not permitted inside the building. Please note that the trailer is temporarily closed to the public.

You can also participate in our “Home Edition” kilt skate. Individuals, families and small groups join in a socially-distanced kilt skate, so get out and show off your Scottish heritage wrapped in your kilts and tartans! Find a community rink, frozen pond or river, and join in the kilt skate phenomenon!

Due to the public health concerns related to COVID-19, the community event originally scheduled at the Skating Court at Lansdowne Park on January 8 was cancelled.
