James obi, volunteer director
James Obi serves as the Volunteer Director for the Scottish Society of Canada, where he is passionate about building inclusive spaces and fostering meaningful community connections. Originally from Nigeria and now based in Ottawa, James brings a unique intercultural perspective to celebrating and sharing Scottish heritage across Canada.
As Volunteer Director, James is dedicated to welcoming and supporting the Society’s volunteers, helping them find their place in the community and ensuring that every event benefits from strong, enthusiastic volunteer engagement. His leadership style focuses on collaboration, growth, and creating positive experiences for all involved.
Outside of the Scottish Society, James is active in advocacy and community work, including projects with the Legacy of Hope Foundation that support truth, healing, and reconciliation. A student and project management professional, he balances his professional life with a passion for bodybuilding, cultural exploration, and community service.
