Isobel adams, membership

Isobel (Izzy) Adams is the Membership Director for the Scottish Society of Ottawa (SSO), where she’s dedicated to welcoming new members, strengthening community connections, and celebrating Scottish heritage in the National Capital Region. A member of the Society since 2017, Isobel has worn many tartan hats — serving as Volunteer Director, Hogman-eh! Director, newsletter writer, and Hall of Origins Coordinator.

Isobel’s love of Scottish culture runs deep. She began Highland dancing at the age of four and continued well into her twenties, including four years performing with the Queen’s Bands. Growing up, her father — a high school history teacher and antiquarian bookseller — sparked her passion for Scottish history by gifting her a carefully chosen book on the Scots every birthday and Christmas.

Outside of the Scottish Society, Isobel works as the Membership and Events Coordinator for the Carleton Place and District Chamber of Commerce, where she helps local businesses grow and thrive. In her free time, she enjoys making memories with family and friends — and exploring the world with her beloved Irish Wolfhound, Sorcha.
