The 10th Anniversary of the Ottawa edition of the Great Canadian Kilt Skate was held on Sunday February 18th at the outdoor skate rink at Lansdowne Park. The event was attended by Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe, who declared it Great Canadian Kilt Skate day in Ottawa, City Councillor Laura Dudas, MPP John Fraser, and Scottish Government Representative in Canada John Devine.
As well as kilt skating, we had music provided by the Ottawa Celtic Choir, bagpipers, kilt skate cookies, and hot chocolate provided by Boccato Gelato & Crepes. The event was well attended with over 35 skaters including members of the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa (Duke of Edinburgh’s Own) and the Ottawa Branch of The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society of Ottawa and the National Capital Commission Ice Hogs.
