2024 annual general meeting

On Saturday, June 22nd the Scottish Society of Ottawa conducted our Annual General Meeting in the ‘OneUp’ Room at the Royal Oak in New Edinburgh (Ottawa’s Scottish Village). In addition to briefing SSO members on our past year’s activities, and finances, we voted in new Board members and a change of postilions for current board members. John McLuckie will stay on as Chair while Donald MacDonald will move from Hogman-eh! Director to Vice Chair. Liz Smith will move from Special Events to Communications taking over from Andy MacCulloch, while Dave Johnston takes over Special Events moving from Volunteer Director. Jen Hill stepped down from Burns Director being replaced by Kayleigh Armstrong. We also welcomed a new board member Silvia Yanez as Secretary and James Coughlan as Hogman-eh! Director. Current board vacancies include: Volunteer Director and Development Director.

We also approved an amendment to the SSO Bylaws concerning the name and status of our membership. Previously we had two levels of membership: Paid and Associate. These will now be replaced by Members and Subscribers. As always, our AGM included a breakfast and entertainment provided by Ron Roach and John Young.
