St. Patrick's Parade Scots & Scottish Dogs Marching Group

Join the Scottish Society of Ottawa and our Celtic cousins at our Scots and Scottish breed dogs Marching Group at the 37th Annual St. Patrick's Parade. Don your kilts, tartans, tweeds and tams, and bring along your Scottish-breed dogs - Westies, Scotties, Shelties, Border collies, Scottish collies…! (Note: dogs not essential - everyone is welcome). Scottish-themed dog wear is encouraged!

All participants with animals must ensure the safety of their personnel, other parade participants, spectators, as well as their own animals, and other animals involved in the parade.

Itinerary:
10:45 a.m. SSO parade participants arrive at the designated parade position number located on Laurier Avenue West in front of Ottawa City Hall.

11:00 a.m. The parade begins and proceeds west along Laurier Avenue to Bank Street where it will turn south onto Bank Street and proceed to Lansdowne Park.

12:15 p.m. The parade is scheduled to arrive at Lansdowne Park.

12:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Beau's St. Patrick's Party, sponsored by Beau’s Natural Brewing Company, Aberdeen Pavilion, Lansdowne Park (tickets required)

  • The parade will depart from Laurier Avenue West in front of Ottawa City Hall.

  • The Scottish Society of Ottawa Marching Group has been assigned position number (TBC) in the parade line-up.

  • A shuttle service will operate between Lansdowne Park and City Hall as of 8:30 a.m. for those wishing to park at Lansdowne Park and make their way to City Hall for the start of the parade.

  • A shuttle will transport people from Lansdowne Park (Aberdeen Pavilion) to City Hall (Lisgar Street entrance) immediately after the parade. People wishing to utilize the shuttle service are asked to disembark from the parade on the south side of the Aberdeen Pavilion and make their way to the shuttle bus, which will be parked on the north side of the Aberdeen Pavilion. The Shuttle Bus will depart at 12:45 p.m.

The Beau's St. Patrick's Party will feature a variety of Irish singers, musicians, dancers and fare. Details for the party, including ticket information, is available here

Road Closures on Saturday, March 16, 2019:

  • Laurier Ave W (from Elgin St. to Laurier Ave Bridge) will fully close at 7:30 a.m.

  • Laurier Ave W (from Elgin St. to Bank St.) and Bank St. (from Laurier Ave W to Lansdowne Park) will fully close at 10:30 a.m.

  • Side streets (connecting to Bank St.) will only fully close once the parade has progressed further down Bank St. Parade marshals will monitor these closures and permit local traffic to enter/exit these streets up until that point.
