Did you know?

  • Tartan Day has been celebrated in Canada since 1986, when the idea of celebrating heritage and our history became a wonderful project in Nova Scotia headed by Jean Watson, Scot of the Year in 2007.

  • Ms. Watson and her team worked very hard to promote April 6 as Tartan Day, and after 10 years they had every province on board.  The date marks the Declaration of Arbroath, signed in 1320 in Scotland.

  • Did you know that 15% of Canadians claim Scottish heritage, with the Irish claiming a close 14%?
