Kilt making session
By Dave Johnston
The Scottish Society of Ottawa held our second Kilt making Session hosted by Dhruvees Cafe and conducted by the wonderful and talented ladies from Marshall Bespoked Kilts. We had a great turnout and everyone enjoyed learning many of the skills in kilt making.
The master Kilt makers Shirley Stapley and Julie Ricard set up 5 stations: how make tartan fringe plaid and pearl with twizzler; how to measure for a kilt; how to make 3 type of pleats to pin, learning about the 6 stitches needed; and a sample station identify the name of the different pleats.
