Perth Kilt Run

June 23 @ 3:30 pm - 7:30 pm

It could be you running in a kilt this year! There is a race for everyone – even a Royal 1k for those who want just a taste of the action.

Maybe this year you’d like to tackle the world record Five Mile / 8k race through scenic Perth, with a free, cold Perth Brewery beer waiting for you at the finish line. This year’s swag, always a popular keepsake, is true to the race theme “Celtic Cross” – how’s that for a hint? Then of course there are the generous prizes of $1000 for 1st, $600 for 2nd and $300 for 3rd place. The first, second and third placed runners in each male/female age category win $300, $200 and $100 respectively.

If you’re truly ambitious, there’s the Warrior Obstacle Challenge for bravehearted souls over 18 years of age. Warriors carry a sword and shield weighing several pounds for the entire 8k race – plus there are various challenges awaiting them along the route, ranging from throwing to lifting to aiming. Specific details are mailed to the Warriors prior to the race.

For youth there is also a Warrior Class in addition to a Lads & Lassies 1k race that takes the runners over the scenic Tay River in the heart of Perth. The big crowd pleaser is of course the Wee Lads & Lassies 200m race, which starts at 4:00 pm at the intersection of Herriot and Gore Streets.

Please arrive at least 30 minutes ahead for the adult races that start at 6:00 pm and 15 minutes ahead for these shorter races:

  • 4:00 pm: 2-4 and 5-6 year olds are piped to the startline on Gore Street from behind Conway’s Men’s Wear; they run 200m to the finishline Castle.
  • 4:20 pm: 7-8 year olds are piped to the startline Castle; they complete a 1k along the park, over the Rainbow Bridge, through Big Ben Park and down Gore Street to the finishline Castle.
  • 4:40 pm: 9-12 year old Warriors are piped to the startline Castle and follow the same 1k course as the 7-8 year olds, but have some obstacles to contend with in Big Ben Park.

Kilts can be ordered as part of the registration process, but anyone wishing to support a Canadian company should check out Ronald Kilts based in Montreal.
